Wet Cyanotype Photograms
Artist’s Statement, 2021
I created these wet cyanotype photograms in my backyard. I am driven by process and the peace this work brings me by getting me outside to enjoy my property in Michigan.
I gather flowers, leaves, bits of nature and plants from my garden.
The wet cyanotype process involves me coating watercolor paper by hand with cyanotype chemistry. Before the chemical dries, I chose placement of plants for composition.
My intuition continues as I chose from my array of spices and chemicals to create results with visual interest. The prints are exposed by sun, for hours at a time, and developed by water.
